GENERAL PRACTICE RESIDENCY IN DENTISTRY
Dental Student Externships
The program offers a two-week or more externship for third and fourth year dental students who are interested in clinical exposure to oral medicine, oral pathology, and hospital dentistry. There is ample educational opportunity in the areas of oral complications of chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, and head and neck oncology treatment. The extern will be able to shadow oral medicine and oral pathology attending staff in outpatient clinics and general dental resident staff in outpatient clinics and inpatient rounds. The extern will attend all didactic sessions and will give a case presentation on a medical/dental entity to which s/he was exposed during the externship.

- A letter of recommendation from the dental school faculty member responsible for overseeing externships
