GENERAL PRACTICE RESIDENCY IN DENTISTRY

Administrative Faculty

Agnes Lau, DMD
, Director of the General Practice Residency Program in Dentistry, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and of the BWH GPR program.  She is also the Director of the MGH Dental Group and Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  She practices general dentistry at the MGH with a special interest in dental care of the medically compromised patient.

Stephen Colchamiro, DMD, Coordinator of the General Practice Residency Program in Dentistry, is a graduate of Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  He has been Director of the dental service at Brookside Community Health Center since its inception over 30 years ago and is currently Assistant Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  He has special interests in pediatric dentistry, temporomandibular joint pain, and public health policy.

Nathaniel Treister, DMD, DMSc Coordinator of the General Practice Residency Program in Dentistry, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.  He received his postdoctoral training in oral medicine and oral biology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  He is also Instructor in Oral Medicine at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  His oral medicine practice is at the BWH, where he sees patients with a variety of conditions, including graft vs. host disease, bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis, oral mucositis, salivary gland disease, and orofacial pain.

Clinical Faculty - Brigham and Women’s Hospital

Joseph Costa, DMD is a graduate of the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and of the BWH GPR program.  He is former Director of the GPR program, as well as former Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is in private practice.  He has a special interest in dental rehabilitation in the operating room setting for compromised patients, oral mucositis in cancer patients, and anterior esthetics.

Leonard Kaban, DMD, MD, Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, completed his doctoral degrees at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School.  He is also Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. 

Mark Lerman, DMD is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and of the BWH GPR program.  He received his postdoctoral oral pathology training at New York Hospital Queens and is Clinical Instructor in oral pathology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He has a special interest in osteonecrosis of the jaws.

Bonnie Padwa, DMD, MD received her doctoral degrees at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School.  She received her oral surgical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and is board-certified.  She is Associate Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and practices at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston.

Stephen Sonis, DMD, DMSc received his predoctoral education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and his postdoctoral training in oral medicine and periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  He is former Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, and Dentistry at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  He is currently Chief of Oral Medicine at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Sonis is a world renowned expert in oral mucosal diseases and has published extensively on oral medicine.  He also has interests in genetic risk prediction in chemotherapy and radiation therapy toxicity.

Sook-bin Woo, DMD, MMSc received her postdoctoral training in oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial pathology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  She is board certified in both disciplines and is Assistant Professor and Program Director for the postdoctoral training programs in both disciplines at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  She holds consultant positions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  Her interests are in graft vs. host disease, lichen planus, hyperkeratotic disease, osseous pathology, and salivary gland tumors.

Alan Ko, DMD
is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and of the BWH GPR program.  He is also in private practice and has a special interest in occlusion.

Yana Posemeynik, DMD is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed her general practice residency at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
