GENERAL PRACTICE RESIDENCY IN DENTISTRY

Rotations - Internal Medicine

The Internal Medicine Rotation is a required two-week rotation on the inpatient service of the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA. The Faulkner Hospital is a 150-bed community teaching hospital that is affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dental residents participate fully as members of the inpatient medicine team. Residents attend morning rounds, perform histories and physicals, and attend patient case conferences and lectures.

Residents will:

  • Gain experience in taking medical histories and performing physical evaluations.
  • Assess and diagnose various medical disease processes.
  • Gain knowledge and experience in risk assessment and medical management of the compromised patient.
