ELECTIVE CLASSES AND ROTATIONS

Elective classes are chosen at the discretion of students depending on their research interests.

A number of elective rotations are available to students according to their interests and available time.

Systemic Pain Rotation:

In addition to a rotation in orofacial pain, students may elect to study the management of pain in other parts of the body (eg. lower back pain, oncologic pain) through a 2-4 week rotation at the Pain Management Center at the Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Human Research Committee:

This is a 3-month rotation where the student sits as an observer on the Human Research Committee (Institutional Review Board) and observes how research protocols are discussed, critiqued and ultimately approved or not approved by the Board. The Board meets 1-2 times per month. This is an invaluable rotation for those interested in conducting research on human subjects.
