Biographical Sketch
Dr. Nadeem Karimbux received his D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) in 1991 and his M.M.Sc. and Certificate in Periodontology from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1993. He is a Board Certified periodontist and an Associate Professor. Dr. Karimbux began his academic career at HSDM as the recipient of a Physician Scientist Award, with a focus on studying collagen expression in the periodontium and has made numerous contributions to the literature on topics of growth and development and wound healing. Dr. Karimbux is intimately involved with dental education at a national and international level and is currently Assistant Dean of Education in the Office of Dental Education at HSDM. At HSDM, he was involved in the design and implementation of the problem based predoctoral curriculum and has directed the predoctoral clinical periodontology clerkships. His innovative periodontal curriculum at HSDM has resulted in a high level of interest in the field of periodontology, resulting in twenty per cent of its graduating class entering postdoctoral periodontology programs. At the national level, Dr. Karimbux is a member of the Council of Faculties of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA); curriculum consultant and site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation to the American Dental Association (ADA); and Test Consultant for the Dental Admissions Test for the American Dental Association. He has published and presented his work in dental education at national and international meetings. As an active member of the AAP, ADEA and ADA, and as a full-time educator, Dr. Karimbux has the qualifications to work across a broad spectrum of national organizations on teaching and learning issues that are central to the field of periodontology in the new millennium.
Clinical / Academic / Research interests Clinical: Dr. Karimbux is a periodontist, practicing four days in the Harvard Dental Center. His practice is limited to periodntology and implants
Academic: Dr. Karimbux is the assistant dean for dental education, with an interest in problem-based-learning and the use of information Technology in education.
Research interests: Dr. Karimbux participates in clinical trial research and is interested in outcomes in dental education |
