Biographical Sketch
Dr. Peggy Leong was born in Malaysia. She came to the United States and attended Mercer University as an undergraduate, where she graduated with a major in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Leong attended Boston University School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 1980 with a D.M.D. degree. She completed the General Practice Residency Program at Tufts University- New England Medical Center from 1980-1981.
After residency, Dr. Leong practiced General Dentistry in private practice as well as directed the Dental Department at South Cove Community Health Center for a decade.
Dr. Leong completed her Masters in Business Administration at Boston University School of Management in 1992, with a concentration in Health Care Management. After her management training, she continued to practice general dentistry at the community health center but took on increasing responsibilities in administration. She became the Executive Director of South Cove Community Health Center from 1998 2001.
Dr. Leong became Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2001. Her primary role is directing the Teaching Practices and the Faculty Group Practices with a staff of over 60 individuals.
Clinical / Academic / Research Interests
Dr. Leong’s research interests are in diabetes and oral health, patient safety improvements in the dental practice environment and community health dentistry. She serves on the Board of Directors of South Cove Community Health Center.
