Seenu Susarla, DMD '07, MPH '07, MD '10, a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, was recently honored with a 2011 Straumann Resident Research Award by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). The awards are given for the three best manuscripts submitted by residents to the annual meeting of the AAOMS. Susarla received the award for his paper "Upper Airway Length Decreases Following Maxillomandibular Advancement in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea." He also received the award in 2010.
In addition, Rachel Garaas, DMD '09, a resident in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department at the UNC School of Dentistry, received the 2011 Resident Research Award for her paper "Prevalence of Third Molars with Caries Experience or Periodontal Pathology in Young Adults."
