##  Advanced Graduate Education: Specialized training for future dental leaders 

Harvard School of Dental Medicine's (HSDM) advanced graduate education (AGE) programs offer outstanding postdoctoral opportunities in numerous dental specialties. Our program offers the opportunity to earn a Master of Medical Sciences degree (MMSc) or Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) degree, and/or a certificate in a specialty field. Get advanced training in treating underserved and vulnerable populations in rural area. This program aims to expand the pipeline of dental professionals in New Hampshire. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through healthcare locations throughout the state providing emergency and multidisciplinary comprehensive oral health care and directing health promotion and disease prevention activities.

Clinical training is based at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where you will gain extensive experience with the diagnosis and management of medicallycomplex cases including oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland disorders, bone pathology, and orofacial pain conditions.

Join a six-year residency program that will qualify you for certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. You will earn a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and complete a 16-month residency in general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital.

###    Orofacial Pain Residency/MGH  expand\_more  

Gain advanced training in orofacial pain and related conditions in a two-year hospital-based residency program. The program consists of clinical training with elective rotations through departments within the Massachusetts General Hospital Partners Healthcare System, including physical therapy, head and neck imaging, and neurosurgery. It includes a didactic program and teaching opportunities.

###    Pediatric Dentistry  expand\_more  

Experience a full range of specialty training in early childhood dental caries prevention and management, oral facial trauma and emergency care, and advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures, in this program based at Boston Children’s Hospital. You will also gain exposure to pediatric restorative dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, and behavior guidance techniques, including nitrous oxide and sedation.

 </a>Coursework in oral biology provides each graduate student with a strong scientific background. Students choose from a group of oral biology core courses offered at HSDM. Courses in the basic sciences are also offered at Harvard Medical School, the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the MIT.
