Postdoctoral fellow Yao Yao will present her research on precision-engineered biomaterials designed across multiple length scales to advance oral tissue regeneration and immunotherapy. The presentation will highlight innovative platforms ranging from multiphasic regenerative scaffolds to single-cell devices known as “cellular backpacks,” and their potential applications in oral health, inflammatory disease, and precision medicine.

## About the speaker

Dr. Yao Yao is a postdoctoral fellow in bioengineering at Harvard University and the Wyss Institute, where she works with Samir Mitragotri. She earned her PhD in oral health sciences from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, conducting research at the Biointerfaces Institute with Joerg Lahann and HSDM Dean William Giannobile. She also holds a degree in dental medicine.

Yao's research bridges dentistry and bioengineering, advancing translational approaches to oral and systemic health. Her work has earned national and international recognition from both the dental research and engineering communities.

Her first-author publication received the IADR William J. Gies Award for the best paper of the year in the Biomaterials and Bioengineering category. She is also the recipient of the IADR Women in Science Promising Talent Award and the AADOCR Outstanding Student Researcher Award, recognizing her research achievements and service to the dental research community.
