#  Frequently Asked Questions for FGP Patients 

 



HSDM has reached an agreement with a private dental practice that will reopen a dental clinic in Cambridge at 114 Mount Auburn Street under new ownership. Patients of our Faculty Group Practice will receive communications from the practice with more details about the anticipated opening date in September. The new Cambridge practice will be independent of Harvard University and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). However, we expect it will remain a vital resource for the Harvard community given its close proximity. Please see below for more details.

 

 





###    When will the new practice open?  expand\_more  

We anticipate the **new practice in Cambridge will open in September 2026**. If you are a current patient, you will receive communication from the new practice with more details.

 

 



###    If I’m a patient with an upcoming appointment with my usual dentist/provider in the FGP, will I be able to keep it?  expand\_more  

**Yes,** before the new practice in Cambridge opens in September, you can continue to go to your regularly scheduled appointments with your provider in Longwood. For appointments after the transition, your care would be managed by the new organization. More details will be provided as the transition is finalized.

 

 



###    Will my treatment plan be transferred to the new practice?  expand\_more  

**Yes,** assuming you would like to continue receiving treatment at this new location.

The acquiring organization’s team in collaboration with HSDM will be contacting you to confirm your plans to remain with new practice and the subsequent providers hired.

 

 



###    Will my existing treatment plan, pre-estimates, and payment plans be honored?  expand\_more  

**Yes,** terms of the agreement include the requirement for the acquiring organization to honor the fee structure in place for any treatment plans that are ongoing, and that will extend beyond the closing date.

 

 



###    If I have an outstanding balance on my bill/payment plan, who will I pay?  expand\_more  

**Any accounts receivable/outstanding payments will be transferred to the acquiring organization** who will continue to work to collect any outstanding payments.

 

 



###    Will the acquiring organization still accept my dental insurance?  expand\_more  

**Yes,** the terms of the agreement include the acquiring organization agreeing to accept all our current insurance contracts.

The **acquiring organization would participate with third-party payers**, including MetLife, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Delta Dental Premier, and any future insurer that Harvard may choose for faculty, staff, or student dental coverage.

 

 



###    Do I need to fill out new patient paperwork?  expand\_more  

**No paperwork is needed.** Your file will seamlessly transfer over to the acquiring organization under the Medical Records Custody Transfer Agreement.

 

 



###    Will the same dental hygienists and dental assistants be staying on?  expand\_more  

The acquiring organization will bear the responsibility to hire faculty providers and support staff, and as such, **the same people may or may not be available at the new location**.

 

 



###    Will the new practice have access to my full dental history and X-rays?  expand\_more  

**Yes,** your digital charts, clinical notes, and X-rays are fully accessible to ensure total continuity.
