DESCRIPTION:<h2><span>New Insights into Oral Cancer: How Mammalian EAK-7 Triggers Alternative mTOR Signaling</span></h2><p>Dr. Paul H. Krebsbach, dean and professor at UCLA School of Dentistry, will present this year's Professor Donald B. Giddon Annual Lecture in Behavioral Medicine and Dentistry. <span>Dr. Krebsbach’s research focuses on the cell and molecular biology of mineralized tissues and self-renewal of adult and pluripotent stem cells.</span></p><p><em>A reception will immediately follow the lecture.</em></p><h3>About the lecture</h3><p><span>The Professor Donald B. Giddon Annual Lecture in Behavioral Medicine and Dentistry was established to support the Harvard School of Dental Medicine’s teaching programs. Dr. Donald B. Giddon is professor emeritus at HSDM and a 1959 DMD graduate of Harvard University with postdoctoral training in periodontology and oral medicine, PD62, and subsequent PhD in psychology. Topics for this endowed lecture have addressed a range of issues intersecting behavioral health and oral health related to the focus and function of the orofacial area, including the effects of pain on growth in children, socio-dental sciences, leadership, and global oral health.</span></p>
