## Program overview

The Orthodontics Preceptorship at Harvard School of Dental Medicine is a full-time, four-week program designed for dentists seeking advanced exposure to orthodontics in an academic setting. Participants learn alongside AGE students in select courses and benefit from dedicated one-on-one mentorship with the program director. The experience includes clinical observation at the Harvard Dental Center and insight into orthodontic research and interdisciplinary care. Enrollment is limited to maintain a highly personalized experience.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

- **DDS, DMD, BDS, or equivalent dental degree** from an accredited dental school. Note that the requirement for DDS, DMD, or BDS degrees can be waived if the student can verify they are actively enrolled in a dental school.
- **English language proficiency**
- **Citizenship, permanent residency, or visa status that allows travel to the United States** for the duration of the program  
    *(Visas are not provided by the program.)*

Applicants must submit the following materials\*:

- Completed application form
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Academic transcripts
- One letter of recommendation
- One-page statement of interest
- [TOEFL ](/toefl-requirements "TOEFL Requirements")or IELTS scores, if applicable
- $150 non-refundable application fee
- Participation in an interview with program faculty (virtual or in person)

Tuition for the **Orthodontics Preceptorship Program** is **$12,500**.

- Full tuition payment is due **30 days prior to the start of the program**
- Housing, travel, meals, and personal expenses are the responsibility of the participant
- No refunds are provided for cancellations after the program has started

 

 



###    Certificate of completion  expand\_more  

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Completion issued by the Continuing Education Department of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

This certificate:

- Is not equivalent to a postgraduate specialty certificate
- Does not represent specialty training recognized by the American Dental Association
- Does not qualify participants for specialty recognition in the United States

This preceptorship program is not accredited by any national or local accreditation body.

Accepted participants must submit **immunization records at least two months before the start of the program** and receive clearance from Occupational Health.

Participants must also complete required institutional training before engaging in observation activities, including:

- HIPAA training
- OSHA training
- Infection Control training
