## Advanced specialty training in periodontology, research, and clinical leadership

The Advanced Graduate Program in Periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine prepares future specialists through rigorous clinical training integrated with advanced academic study. All residents complete a Master of Medical Sciences (MMSc) or Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) degree in conjunction with the periodontology certificate.

This interdisciplinary program combines comprehensive training in periodontal diagnosis and treatment with education in biomedical and health services research. Residents gain experience managing complex periodontal disease and collaborating across dental specialties.

Graduates are prepared for specialty clinical practice, academic dentistry, research careers, and leadership roles in oral health organizations and health systems.
