# Actions taken to support our international students and scholars

Dear members of the HSDM community,

It was upsetting to see the most recent proclamation suspending entry to the United States for our international students and scholars studying on F or J visas. Once again, we are called upon to strongly respond to these retaliatory actions taken by the federal administration. President’s Garber’s [message](https://www.harvard.edu/president/news/2025/an-update-on-supporting-our-international-students-and-scholars-2/) tonight detailed the legal steps Harvard is taking to stand up for our international community. We are hopeful that the courts will take swift action.

In the meantime, our international students and scholars have [received guidance](https://www.hio.harvard.edu/news/our-continued-resolve-fight-you) directly from Harvard’s International Office (HIO). If you are an international student or scholar, please pay close attention to the [HIO website](https://www.hio.harvard.edu/) and the office’s recommendations related to travel. The HIO will continue to share updates and guidance with you as the implications and considerations around this executive action move forward.

I want to reiterate our continued resolve and commitment to our international community at HSDM. I’m sorry that our international members have had to endure this uncertainty. As President Garber stated so well, our international students and scholars make outstanding contributions inside and outside of our classrooms and laboratories, fulfilling our mission of excellence in countless ways. We will celebrate them, support them, and defend their interests as we continue to assert our Constitutional rights.

Sincerely,
