Alumni Use of Harvard and HSDM Names and Logos

Alumni use guidelines

We understand the pride Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) alumni feel in their connection to the School, and we appreciate the many ways our graduates celebrate that lifelong affiliation.

To protect Harvard’s trademarks, the HSDM name and the Harvard and HSDM shields and logos are reserved for official Harvard use and may not be displayed on personal or business websites.

Additionally, the HSDM name, shield, and logos may not be worn on uniforms (such as scrubs or scrub caps) in private dental practices, as this may imply an affiliation with Harvard or with Harvard School of Dental Medicine clinical practices.

Alumni are welcome to reference their Harvard degree or HSDM affiliation in biographical sections or elsewhere using accurate, factual descriptions. This type of fair use is appropriate. However, Harvard shields, logos, and other insignia may not be used.

Corporate and business use

The Harvard and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine names and logos/shields may not be used by businesses or corporations in any way that suggests affiliation with or endorsement by Harvard.

These marks also may not be used for commercial activities, business promotion, or similar purposes, even if those ventures originated from work or ideas developed at Harvard.
