Office of Research Seminar Series: Genetic Determinants of Dental and Craniofacial Conditions
Date and Time
Location
Dr. Ariadne Letra will provide an overview of her lab’s research on oral-facial clefts, dental anomalies, and endodontic pathosis. Her team integrates advanced clinical phenotyping with large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and functional analysis to explore how genetic variation influences human developmental and orofacial conditions. She will also share recent findings on the biological pathways linking oral and systemic diseases.
About the speaker
Dr. Ariadne Letra is a tenured professor of Endodontics and Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and a senior member of the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics.
Her research, conducted in the Letra Lab, explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying dental, oral, and craniofacial conditions, with a focus on dental anomalies, cleft lip and palate, and pulpal and periapical disease. Additionally, her work investigates the links between oral health and systemic disease, aiming to uncover shared biological pathways that connect these conditions.
