Join us for the next Research Seminar Series featuring Dr. Adelina Plachokova, periodontist and faculty member at Radboud University Medical Center in the Netherlands. Dr. Plachokova will examine the connection between periodontitis and over 50 systemic diseases, with a focus on colorectal cancer and what it means for clinical practice.

About the speaker

Dr. Adelina S. Plachokova is an assistant professor in periodontology at Radboud University, the Netherlands’ top-ranked dental school and part of Radboud University Medical Center. She graduated cum laude in dentistry from the Medical University of Sofia in 2000 and completed postgraduate training in periodontology in both Bulgaria and the Netherlands. She earned her PhD in 2008 under Prof. John A. Jansen, focusing on biomaterials for bone regeneration.

Her research focuses on regenerative biomaterials and periodontal-systemic interactions. She has authored 27 peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter and has received international research grants and awards in both basic and clinical science.

Plachokova is chair of the education committee at Radboud and was named Teacher of the Year in 2018. She also serves as a clinical periodontist and is an appointed expert for national oral health guidelines through the Dutch Society of Periodontology and Radboudumc.
