Dr. Paul Levi Jr.
Dr. Paul A. Levi Jr. is a clinical educator in the Department of Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), where he has taught since 1994. A diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, he has dedicated more than three decades to educating dental students and residents while lecturing nationally and internationally on periodontology and nonsurgical periodontal therapy.
Levi earned his DDS from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, completed a dental internship at the University of Vermont Medical Center, and served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy. He then completed specialty training in periodontology at Tufts before establishing a private practice in Burlington, Vermont, where he became the state's first board-certified periodontist.
In addition to his longstanding role at HSDM, Levi has held faculty appointments at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, the University of Vermont, and the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in Barcelona. He is co-author of The Non-Surgical Control of Periodontal Diseases: A Comprehensive Handbook, a leading reference on nonsurgical periodontal therapy.
Levi received the Massachusetts Dental Society and Yankee Dental Congress Clinician of the Year Award in 2012 in recognition of his contributions to continuing dental education. Although retired from private practice, he continues to teach, lecture, and mentor the next generation of dental professionals.
