Giannobile Laboratory
What we do
- The Giannobile Lab's research focuses on the oral delivery of anti-inflammatory molecules to prevent periodontal disease progression; artificial intelligence to support precision medicine and automated diagnostics; and state-of-the-art regenerative technologies for periodontal and peri-implant regeneration.
On-going projects
- H-CREDENT
- Multi-center clinical study as part of a training program employing artificial intelligence to patient stratification and individual risk prediction for pain resolution following dental procedures. The study will collect, analyze, and model patientreported pain outcomes and genetic data to stratify risk and inform precision dental medicine.
- Abaloparatide to Treat Alveolar Bone Loss for Dental Implant Reconstruction
- Preclinical and Clinical assessment of abaloparatide, a potent bone anabolic drug developed for osteoporosis therapy, in dental applications including post-extraction socket healing, implant osseointegration, and peri-implant regeneration.
- Nanoparticle Drug Delivery System to Target Cellular Senescence and Enhance Periodontal Regeneration
- Preclinical development and validation of a nanoparticle-based drug delivery system for controlled release of biologics (rhPDGF-BB, rhBMP-2, and rhFGF-2) to target cellular senescence and enhance the regenerative capacity of periodontal tissues.
- Selective BET inhibitor RVX-208 mitigates periodontal inflammation and bone loss
- To determine the effects of RVX-208, a selective bromodomain and extra-terminal domain inhibitor targeting bromodomain 2, on periodontal inflammation and bone loss, periodontitis was induced by injecting LPS into the interdental papilla between the M1and M2 of C57BL/6 mice. Micro CT and immunohistochemical analyses showed that RVX significantly reduced bone destruction by mitigating the inflammatory response.
