Dr. Mutsumi Yoshida

Executive Director for Research Strategy and Development

Dr. Mutsumi Yoshida serves as executive director for research strategy and development at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), where she leads the Office of Research and supports the school’s research enterprise across basic and translational science, clinical research, and public health and health services research. She has also contributed to HSDM’s H-CREDENT initiative as a consultant.

Yoshida brings more than two decades of experience advancing collaborative biomedical research and translational science in academic settings. She previously served as managing director of the Translational Resource Center at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, in partnership with HSDM, the Wyss Institute, and the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, she oversaw operations for a federally funded research center and coordinated faculty and industry partners to advance oral and craniofacial technologies toward clinical application.

Her experience includes grant development, research program management, and technology commercialization through roles at the University of Michigan’s Office of Technology Transfer. Over the course of her career, she has helped secure significant federal research funding and has published in the areas of innovation, biomaterials, and translational science.

Yoshida holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University, as well as a master’s degree in biomedical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
