Dr. Shelyn Yamakami earned her dental and master’s degrees from the State University of Maringá and her PhD in Sciences from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. During her doctoral studies, she served as a research scholar in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM).

Her academic work bridges clinical innovation, dental materials, and education. Her research includes a patent application for a product addressing dental demineralization and hypersensitivity, and she has developed curricular approaches that integrate artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to enhance patient care and dental education.

Yamakami’s contributions have been recognized with the DMG Award from the Brazilian Society for Dental Research (IADR Brazilian Division), an honorable mention from the Brazilian Association of Dental Education (ABENO), and an Education Innovation Grant from HSDM for integrating AI into clinical practice.

Focused on minimally invasive therapies, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and educational innovation, Yamakami is dedicated to translating research into practical solutions that advance both dentistry and patient outcomes.
